The 2011 Tennessee State Fair

The Tennessee State Fair is back, and this year’s fair will be better than ever. All of your favorite entertainers, food, agriculture exhibits, competitions, and midway rides will be in full swing from September 9th - September 18th.

From Knoxville: Take I-40 West to I-24 East to I-440 West follow to Exit 6 (Nolensville Pike). Turn right on to Nolensville PIke/Nolensville Rd., Turn left on to Wedgewood Ave., Fairgrounds on right.

From Memphis: Take I-40 East to I-65 South, take Exit 81 (Wedgewood Ave.), Turn left on to Wedgewood Ave., Fairgrounds on right.

From Murfreesboro, Chatanooga, Atlanta: Take I-24 West to I-440 West to Exit 6 (Nolensville Pike), Turn right on to Nolensville Pike/Nolensville Rd., Turn left on Wedgewood Ave., Fairgrounds on right.

Parking

Parking for all 10 Days of the Fair is FREE!

Gate 1 – WEEKEND GATE: This year the WEEKEND GATE is located at Bransford Avenue and Craighead. This gate and parking is easy access for all agricultural, educational and competitive exhibits. This is the only open Friday, Saturday and Sunday. WEEKEND GATE parking opens at Fair Hours. GATE 1 entrance is at 2368 Bransford Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203. Nolensville Road traffic will use this gate.

Gate 2 – LIVESTOCK/MEDIA: Located at Bransford Ave. and Benton Ave. – is only for Livestock, Media and Employees. GATE 2 entrance is at 509 Benton Avenue, Nashville, TN 37203.

Gate 3 – CLOSED/SERVICE ONLY: Located at Wedgewood Ave. and Rains Ave. – is closed. Service entrance only.

Gate 4 – MAIN GATE: Located on Wedgewood Ave. is open everyday. There is handicap and van accessible parking along with a free golf cart shuttle service equipped to transport you to the top of the hill. Wheel chair parking is located at the top of the hill.

Gate 5 – WEEK DAY PARKING: Located at Nolensville Road and Wedgewood – it has Handicap and Van Accessible Parking, it will usually open Monday - Thursday during Fair hours.

Frequently Asked Questions

May I bring my dog to the fair?

For the safety of all fairgoers, no pets of any kind are allowed on the Midway, with the exception of service animals. On a limited basis, pets of participants are allowed in the Agricultural Area (the Extreme Canine Stunt Dog Show, for example). For their safety, animals left in vehicles will be reported.

Are camping spaces available at the fair?

Camping spaces are not available to the general public. We have a limited number of camping sites on our grounds. These sites are reserved for Agricultural participants since they have animals in tow. All leftover spaces are for vendors and attractions.



I would like to be a performer at your fair. How can I get hired?

Entertainment is already booked for the 2011 Fair; check back in January 2012 to apply for next year's fair.

Are Premium Books available this year?



Due to the high cost of printing and mailing, the Tennessee State Fair has now created an electronic premium book. Click here to visit the Competitions page and get a copy of the electronic book. A physical book will not be printed this year. If you are not able to download the PDF files on this site, you may request hard copies of certain competitions by calling 615-862-8980, or emailing us here. Please be sure to specify which competitions you would like and provide us with your full name and mailing address.

Why do I have to pay to get into the fair?

The Tennessee State Fair provides a wide variety of entertainment for fairgoers that is free after paid admission. This entertainment is paid for by admission proceeds and enhances the fair experience for those who attend. For more information on these activities, check out our Must-See Events and our Music page to learn about this year's fair highlights. We will post a more detailed schedule closer to the start of the fair. Events listed are FREE with paid admission unless otherwise noted.



How can I work the fair?



The Tennessee State Fair has LIMITIED employment opportunities available. The Fair is will hire for temporary sanitation positions on August 31 and September 1 ONLY in Wilson Hall on August 31st and September 1st from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m.  Applicants must bring two forms of I.D.: a state issued PHOTO I.D. and a social security card. All applicants are subject to a background check.

Can I bring a cooler to the fair?

No coolers are allowed at the fair, but back-packs are permitted.

What days are field trips permitted?


Tuesday, September 13th is Field Trip Day.  Field trip forms will be posted as the fair approaches. The Midway will open early on this day only; normally it will open at 5 p.m.
