We've got a lot of exciting entertainment planned for this year's fair! Here's just a sample of what you'll see at the 2010 Tennessee State Fair.

Animals & Agriculture

The 2009 Tennessee State Fair was host to the second largest goat show in America, as well as the state’s largest agriculture event and cattle competition. As we transition from being a government run event into private control, there are changes and adjustments being made to the 2010 livestock competitions.  As we build-up the fair for long-term sustainability, we hope to not only maintain, but to grow these competitions.  Thank you for supporting the NEW Tennessee State Fair Association, a not-for-profit organization.

Tennessee is home to some of the largest agriculture industries in the nation and is ranked within the top six national commodity agricultural contribution, including hardwood products, equine, meat goats, tobacco, and cotton.  Davidson County (Nashville) itself ranks within the top 25 out of 95 Tennessee counties in bee colonization, harvested sod, nursery stock, cut Christmas trees, and vegetable cropping.

The 2010 Tennessee State Fair will have many different animals being shown at any given time, including beef cattle, dairy cattle, goats, mules, donkeys, fleece, rabbits, and poultry. So whether you are a country mouse or a city mouse, you will enjoy visiting the Agriculture exhibits & buildings, the livestock judging arena and the barns and stalls of all the animals as they prepare to win the coveted blue ribbon!

Tiny Acres Farm

Be sure to see the gigantic HO scale (1:87 ratio) model railroad exhibit in the Exhibitors Building. We've made a bunch of new additions since last year! Sponsored by the Cumberland Division, Southeastern Region of the National Model Railroad Association and Tennessee Central Ry Museum, the exhibit will have several trains running at all times, including freight and passenger trains. Many locomotives, both steam and diesel, are sound-equipped for a more realistic experience. The model railroad includes a circus with animated midway rides, two large freight yards, and a modern digital command control system that allows for independent operation of each locomotive. Equipment representing past and present Middle Tennessee railroads will be operating every day of the fair.

Health & Wellness

Pedometer Challenge!
Take part in the 2010 Tennessee State Fair Pedometer Challenge! Humana and Nationwide are teaming up to sponsor this year’s main health and wellness initiative event. Our goal with the Health and Wellness Initiative is to calculate the average mileage walked at the fair on any given day. We will then multiply this calculated average (thanks to your strides!) by total fair attendance to get total mileage walked throughout the entire duration of the fair! We are making “strides” toward better health and only you can help raise awareness! To participate, come by the Health & Wellness tent by the entrance and pick up a pedometer from one of the volunteers.
